About Our Reading Program (a.m. only)

Campers will read for 30 minutes daily in groups with a qualified reading teacher.  Children will be grouped by reading level.  This program is designed to bring children together to enjoy appropriately leveled books, practice reading strategies and enhance story comprehension.

The WRK reading program is the ideal program for keeping campers reading over the summer.  

The WRK book collection consists of a combination of movie novels, Oxford Reading Tree books (loaded with humour and used by educators worldwide) and books from readinga-z.com.

 
  Research shows that repetitive reading of books at "just the right level" gives children time to practice skills, build confidence and good reading fluency, giving them an advantage when it is time to tackle newer, less familiar books. Our campers will bring home a list of "The Books I Read At Camp", and those readers books marked with an asterisk * on their lists can be downloaded from readinga-z should parents choose to subscribe.
