If your child has already been in school and you know that
he or she is a non-reader, a beginning reader or advanced
for his/her age, please let us know. We'll do our best to
group him or her for the first day and make adjustments where
necessary to keep everyone challenged, yet comfortable and
having a great time reading together! We can mix junior campers
with older campers for just the reading period. If your child
is a highly advanced reader, please let us know if
it is your priority to have him or her challenged in
reading, or with same-aged peers for that 30 minute block
of time. This will assist us in determining reading group
placement.
Helpful information might include if English is the second
language, or if there are speech / language issues. Here's
how you can let us know about your child's reading (optional).
1) Make a note on their Form #2 Registration Form.
2) Print the Reading Level Form and submit it to his or her
teacher. You need to sign this yourself, giving the teacher
your consent to email us a reading level. This form can be
found under the registration link with the other registration
forms. It is optional, and may not apply to children of preschool
age. It was designed with school - aged children in mind.
3) Email us at reading@wrkcamps.com
. Please include your child's full name and age, and which
week(s) he or she will be attending camp.
Our campers will bring home a list of 'The Books I Read At
Camp', and those books marked with an asterisk * on their
lists can be downloaded from readinga-z should parents choose
to subscribe.
The main goal, especially at this young age, is to develop
enthusiasm and a feeling of success that will give a child
a positive attitude towards books, reading and learning to
last a lifetime!
